Any animal lover knows the instinct to help a creature in distress is powerful. This is especially true for dedicated shelters and rescues. The team at Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue often receives calls about animals in tricky situations. When they get such calls, they quickly gear up and head out to help.

So, when they received multiple calls about a dog lying face down in a muddy ditch, they wasted no time in responding.

The Urgent Call

The moment the first call came in, the seasoned rescuers sprang into action. In just 20 minutes, they reached the location. But as they spotted the dog, something seemed off.

Upon closer inspection, they realized their help wasn’t needed. This wasn’t a dog at all—it was a statue!

“It was a statue that had already been ‘rescued’ by an onsite staff member!” the team shared in a light-hearted Facebook post.

Despite the mix-up, the rescuers didn’t mind. In fact, they were pleased so many people had cared enough to call. As the Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue representative told The Dodo, “It’s always a relief when there isn’t an injured animal to tend to.”

Just like the team in this story, these rescuers are ready to do anything to help. So, let’s take a moment to thank every person who extends a helping hand to animals in need. You are the true heroes.
