Cheesecake, a little stray from Oklahoma, was rescued by A Friend of Jack. This sweet puppy soon caught the attention of Iliana Broad, who couldn’t resist offering her a foster home. Despite the long journey from Oklahoma to Denver, Iliana knew a better life awaited Cheesecake.
“At that stage, our goal is really just to make sure the new foster settles in OK, eats food and starts filling out and gaining weight, and can get some rest,” Iliana explained. Cheesecake adjusted well, but Iliana soon noticed something unusual.
Iliana suspected Cheesecake might be pregnant. She asked A Friend of Jack if they were aware of any such possibility, but they had no indications. They suggested a vet visit for confirmation. The vet’s scan showed no puppies, leaving Iliana convinced Cheesecake wasn’t pregnant.

However, Cheesecake’s belly continued to grow, and Iliana’s instincts told her otherwise. She believed the initial scan might have missed the early signs of pregnancy. Trusting her gut, she took Cheesecake back to the vet. This time, the scan revealed a shocking truth: Cheesecake was not only pregnant but was also days away from giving birth.
“The imaging showed so many puppies that we couldn’t even be sure how many there were. One vet said nine, another said ten, and we all just laughed about how bonkers that imaging was!”

A week later, with Iliana’s help, Cheesecake delivered nine healthy puppies. Staying true to the theme, the adorable litter was named after cake flavors: Mocha, Oreo, Pumpkin, Strawberry, Blueberry, Cocoa, Fudge, Vanilla Bean, and Turtle.
Unfortunately, Cheesecake fell ill right after giving birth and couldn’t nurse her pups. Iliana and her partner stepped in, bottle-feeding each puppy. Despite the workload, Iliana didn’t mind at all.

Having bonded deeply through this experience, Iliana and her partner couldn’t imagine parting with Cheesecake, so they decided to adopt her. As for the puppies, their cuteness helped them quickly find forever homes.
Cheesecake is now living her best life, finally able to focus on herself and leave behind the struggles of her past life on the streets.
