Sophie had no one to care for her.
During her days of wandering the streets, she was utterly alone. She fought desperately to survive the harsh conditions and somehow managed to do so. But mere survival wasn’t enough for a decent life.
Fortunately, she was rescued and brought to the city shelter, where a new chapter of her life began. But then, heartbreak struck!
Sophie Had the Odds Stacked Against Her

Despite being removed from the street, Sophie’s journey was far from over. Tragically, no one at the overcrowded shelter noticed she was unwell. Beneath her radiant smile was a severely ill dog in desperate need of urgent care.
That’s when the compassionate team from Howl Of A Dog came to her rescue! They were on a mission to save dogs from city pounds when they found Sophie. She immediately caught their attention, and they brought her to their facility.
However, during Sophie’s routine vet checkup, the team discovered a shocking truth.
“Sophie was a stray dog, captured and taken to the city pound. We rescued her just in time because, as we learned during her medical examination, Sophie was severely ill,” the rescue shared in a heart-wrenching video.

The tests revealed that Sophie had heartworms. On top of that, she had a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor, with a survival prognosis of just four to twenty months.
This news broke everyone’s hearts. Sophie was deteriorating, yet she never stopped smiling. Throughout her time with her caregivers, her big, striking smile made everyone fall in love with her.
She began chemotherapy, but after several sessions, there was no improvement. Time passed, and she felt worse each day.
What Sophie really needed was surgical intervention. And that’s when the kindness of humanity shone brightly! Upon learning Sophie’s heartbreaking story, many people donated money to help this sweet girl get the treatment she deserved.
“Thanks to the wonderful people who donated for Sophie, we raised the funds needed for her life-saving surgery,” the rescue announced.
Miraculously Alive and Thriving

Thanks to Howl Of A Dog’s partner, Tatjana, Sophie was taken to a clinic that agreed to perform the complex surgery. The procedure took several hours, but eventually, Sophie came out with the best news – her tumor was gone!
After all the hardship, she finally reached a day where she felt no pain. Moreover, she was surrounded by a team of people who loved her deeply!
“We are immensely grateful to all the amazing people who helped us save Sophie. Thanks to your help, Sophie can now live a happy life,” the rescue added.
After her recovery, Sophie’s life changed once more. She was adopted by a wonderful family who eagerly welcomed her into their home.
Finally, she had her own home where she could relax and showcase her incredible personality. And the best part – her new mom was a vet!
Sophie now lives a happy and carefree life, far removed from the streets where she was first found. Her bad days are behind her, and she only looks forward to a bright future.
