Natalie DePersia and her family, residents of New Jersey, had always dreamt of having a dog. A few years ago, they finally decided to welcome one into their lives. They had meticulously planned everything, but fate had a different plan – they ended up bringing home the wrong dog.
On their way back, they noticed this dog looked different from the one in the picture. A visit to the vet confirmed their suspicions – they had adopted a completely different canine. However, it soon became evident that this twist of fate was meant to be. The family quickly fell in love with the Bernese Mountain Dog they named Cash.
Cash was lucky too; he found a loving home that wasn’t originally meant for him. Years later, Cash showed just how much he valued this privilege by doing something that made his mom laugh to tears.
He Didn’t Get Far

In a viral TikTok video posted by Natalie on her account @natmdepersia, she can be seen driving with her brother, laughing hysterically. At first, it’s unclear what’s so funny. But then, the camera reveals the open door of their house and zooms in on Cash, who had “run away from home.”
The quotation marks are well-deserved because Cash didn’t get far. Instead, he was lying relaxed in the garden, showing that home is the most wonderful place after all. This sight made Natalie laugh so hard that she started crying.
“I was absolutely wheezing with laughter because the whole thing caught us completely off guard. My laugh does not normally sound that… interesting!” Natalie shared in an interview with Newsweek. She added that she was relieved to find him there because if not, “[she] would have been frantic.”
To show her appreciation for Cash’s loyalty, Natalie decided to reward him with an ice cream. This good boy totally deserved it.
