In Zion’s case, this lovable dog who adored human company was surrendered back to the shelter three times, leading to deep depression. The shelter staff were perplexed by this but knew they had to take action to help him.
Zion had only spent a year in his new home before being returned to the shelter in Florida. The reasons for this were unclear, which made his situation even more heart-wrenching. Zion was the perfect dog; he was friendly around people and loved playing with other dogs.
When Zion was accepted back into the shelter, the staff understood how profoundly this would affect him and that it would take time for him to recover. The Broward County Humane Society decided to post a video about Zion’s situation, hoping to find someone sympathetic and willing to give him a forever home.
In the video description, they wrote: “He was just being a dog! This gorgeous 1-year-old pup is Zion, and sadly, he has been given up 3 times now all because his humans did not understand him.” They highlighted his intelligence and playful nature, emphasizing what a great addition he would be to any home.
A Hopeful Future For Zion

Zion is very devoted to his family and dislikes being alone. His previous owners abandoned him because he would often bark, cry, and break things when left alone, which annoyed them.
The Broward County Humane Society continued: “Zion has been let down, and now, through no fault of his own, he is back at our shelter hoping for yet another chance to be the incredible dog that he is!” They described him as an amazing and lovable dog who just wants to spend time with people who matter to him.
Zion loves exploring new places, playing with his owners and other dogs, and especially enjoys car rides. He would thrive in a family with another dog, as having a companion would prevent him from being destructive.
The Humane Society is searching for someone who will understand and respect Zion because he is worth it. While it is uncertain if he has found his perfect family yet, it is comforting to know that the staff at the Florida shelter are doing everything they can to ensure Zion is happy and cared for.
