Our dogs thrive on our boundless love. Watching their tails wag with joy and seeing their eyes light up with affection fills our hearts with immense happiness.
Sadly, not every dog owner shares this sentiment. The knowledge that some people can hurt and mistreat these loving creatures is utterly heartbreaking.
How can anyone betray these innocent animals who shower us with so much love?
Ladybird was one such defenseless puppy who learned firsthand how cruel people can be. This adorable fur baby was heartlessly abandoned and tied to a tree.
Despite feeling cold and scared, Ladybird stood patiently by the tree, her sorrowful puppy eyes fixed on the nearby road. Her brave heart held onto the hope that someone would notice her and offer her the compassion and love she so desperately needed.
Spotting a Defenseless Puppy

While driving down a road in Kentucky, a driver noticed a little brown and white pup tied to a tree. Overwhelmed with heartbreak, they immediately contacted the Lewis County Animal Shelter.
Upon receiving the call, rescuers rushed to the location and brought the fur baby to the shelter.
“She was just so stoic sitting there by the tree, waiting for someone to notice her. So thankful that the shelter found her and took her in. She was found not far from the shelter, actually,” shared Kim Desroches of Friends of Lewis County Animals with The Dodo.
When the adorable fur baby, later named Ladybird, arrived at the shelter, she was frightened and unsure of everything.
The shelter staff recognized that a big public shelter was not the right place for Ladybird. She was a tiny and fragile puppy in need of love and affection.

Kim Desroches, who works at Friends of Lewis County Animals, was deeply moved when she saw Ladybird’s photo on the shelter’s Facebook page.
The sweet puppy was around six to seven weeks old.
The rescue staff and Desroches were in disbelief that someone could have tied up such a sweet little puppy and left her without looking back.
Desroches was determined to help Ladybird find a foster home. She knew the puppy could be exposed to various illnesses at the shelter.
Ladybird Leaves the Shelter

Desroches soon found a foster home for Ladybird, and she was pulled from the shelter.
The delightful puppy moved in with her foster mom, who showered her with affection and care.
Love quickly chased away all of Ladybird’s fears, and she became relaxed and playful.
After some time in a foster home, Ladybird’s rescuers found her a place with the Licking County Humane Society in Ohio.
On January 27th, 2024, the rescue announced on their Facebook that the sweet pup was pending adoption.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed, hoping that Ladybird has found her forever home. She truly deserves to be cherished and loved without bounds. Ladybird will never feel helpless and abandoned again.
