Elsa, the stray dog, was found roaming the streets with her buddy, Hugo. She was in desperate need of urgent medical attention due to a severe mite infestation.

When the kind folks from Ray Animal Rescue approached her, Elsa’s response was remarkable. She was extremely affectionate and friendly, almost as if she understood they were there to help her. However, there was one reason she didn’t want to be rescued right away…

When the Ray Animal Rescue team first encountered Elsa, she was in terrible shape. This beautiful female dog was suffering from a severe mite infestation. Her skin was flaky, irritated, and inflamed. She was constantly scratching and had patches all over her body.

The team tried to get her into a car and rush her to the vet immediately, but Elsa refused to go. The reason? Her stray buddy, Hugo, was with her, and she didn’t want to leave him behind.

Seeing this heartwarming act of loyalty, the RAR staff decided to take both Elsa and Hugo to their facility.

She Got a Foster She Always Needed

Elsa required round-the-clock care during the first few months. The staff had to give her constant baths for two months straight to get rid of the mites. It was a slow and high-maintenance process, but the important thing was that Elsa gradually improved.

After some time at the RAR facility, Elsa was eating better, her skin showed fewer patches, and she started playing more. However, because of her large size, she wasn’t exactly accepted by the other dogs. The team then decided to find her a foster home, which they successfully did.

Elsa found a new, nurturing foster home with another dog buddy. Her foster parents provided her with nothing but love and care. Even though she was supposed to stay there for only a few days, something incredible happened…

Unlike Elsa, Hugo Got Adopted Quickly

Hugo, being a smaller dog without health issues, was adopted well before Elsa. While Elsa had a few visits from potential adopters, none of them decided to take her home. In a way, this was a relief for her foster family, as they had quickly bonded with Elsa and wanted her to stay as long as possible.

When a family came to discuss Elsa’s adoption, her foster mom was particularly upset.

“When a family came to see her, I was really upset and cried because I didn’t want to give her away.”

After that visit, her foster mom knew she couldn’t continue being Elsa’s foster parent. She wanted Elsa to stay with them… permanently!

After months of searching for her forever home, Elsa found the best one possible! Her foster family became her permanent family, bringing joy to both sides.

Today, Elsa is the happiest dog alive! She loves frolicking around with her family members, but that’s not all.

In addition to her mini backyard escapades, she also enjoys walks, beach trips, and hanging out with the family cats. Yes, that’s right! She has two furry friends that she loves to nap with. Elsa doesn’t even mind being teased or climbed on by them.

Once an abandoned stray dog, Elsa now has everything she ever wanted!
