The Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) found a wandering dog and brought him into their care. Without a microchip, the shelter staff had no idea the pup belonged to someone who loved him dearly.
From the moment he arrived, the staff were smitten by the dog’s gentle and sweet nature. They affectionately named him Jose.
Though Jose seemed a bit reserved, the staff couldn’t have known how deeply he missed his dad or how much he dreamed of being reunited with him.
Enchanted by his charm, the shelter shared a video of Jose on their TikTok account, saying, “At 135 pounds, he was an adorable, gentle giant [who] was too endearing to not share.”
Meanwhile, Mecca, losing hope with each passing day, stumbled upon the TikTok video featuring his beloved dog. The instant he recognized that familiar, adorable face, his heart swelled with joy.

Overcome with emotion, Mecca immediately reached out to the Animal Care Centers of NYC, revealing that the dog’s name was Mecca Jr. and that he was his owner.
The shelter staff, having seen photos of the pup on Mecca’s TikTok account, urged him to come and reunite with his dog as soon as possible.
A Joyful Reunion
The very next morning, Mecca rushed to the shelter, eager to hold his pup in his arms once more. The moment the dog saw his beloved human, he was transformed with sheer excitement.
Mecca Jr. couldn’t stop circling around, a huge smile plastered across his face.
“As soon as Jose saw him, he shed his gentle, aloof demeanor, revealing his true wiggly and goofy self. He showered his dad with nonstop hugs,” ACC shared.
Mecca, overwhelmed with happiness, kissed his dog, feeling like he was on top of the world to have him back.
