The joy a dog brings to a person is often indescribable. Yet, this joy usually comes after overcoming the toughest moments.
Caitlin Evers, an experienced rescuer and founder of Caitie’s Foster Fam in Houston, Texas, knows this all too well. Over the years, Caitlin has rescued numerous animals and fostered more than 280 dogs. So, when she received a call from a shop owner about a stray forced to give birth on the street during heavy rain, she didn’t hesitate to act.
However, even Caitlin was shocked and heartbroken by the dog’s condition.
From Dark Clouds to Sunny Day

In a TikTok video posted by @caitiesfosterfam, this Basset Hound, later named Bentley, gave birth over the weekend in front of the shop. Employees found them on Monday morning. The video explained that Houston, Texas, experienced many storms that weekend, leaving the mama dog and her puppies in a terrible state. Caitlin’s heart broke at the sight.
When she arrived, she found eight puppies with their mother. In another TikTok video, Caitlin revealed that Bentley had originally given birth to eleven puppies, but sadly, the harsh conditions claimed the lives of three.
Despite her heartbreak, Caitlin was determined to help Bentley and her surviving puppies. She carefully placed them in her car and took them home. After an immediate bath to treat their severe flea infestation, the family could finally relax in a clean and warm bed. Watching them sleep peacefully was a balm for Caitlin’s soul.
Unfortunately, one puppy crossed the rainbow bridge in the following days, deepening Caitlin’s sorrow. Nevertheless, she did everything to ensure a better future for the rest of the litter, who began to thrive under her care.
A Brighter Future

After several days, the lives of Bentley and her puppies—Ford, Lincoln, Mustang, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, and Rover—transformed into a true blessing as the sun finally shone after the dark clouds and heavy rain. They were all heading towards a better future, which they rightfully deserved after everything they had been through.
