Man and His Giant Wolf Share an Unbreakable Bond

We’ve all heard of big dogs and likely seen some real giants, but rarely does one ever see a wolf behaving just like a dog. Such is the case with the Canadian wolf, Akela, and his owner, Andrey. These inseparable buddies act like this is perfectly normal.

Personally, I’d be a bit intimidated by such a large animal, but it’s clear that Akela is just a big ol’ puppy at heart.

The Playful Duo

In a video Andrey posted on his YouTube channel, we can see just how endearing Akela’s behavior is. First, he poses for the camera with Andrey, then starts being a bit playful, nuzzling Andrey’s face and nipping at the hood of his hoodie. He even clambers on top of Andrey, resting atop him, still trying to get at his hoodie and ears.

To most of us, that would induce a heart attack, but Akela’s owner knows that he’s just being playful and wouldn’t intentionally hurt him. He eventually manages to get the hoodie down, a triumph for him. Akela continues being playful throughout the video, clearly more interested in quality time with Andrey than in making a video.

Part of the Pack, Part of the Crew

To some, the biting might seem scary, as well as some of Akela’s borderline aggressive behavior, but it only seems that way because of his size. Most dogs do similar, if not the exact same, behavior when they’re play-fighting with their canine friends. It’s also reminiscent of how wolves interact with other pack members—just a form of entertainment for them. And to Akela, Andrey is part of his pack. Andrey can handle it, easily managing Akela’s advances with just one hand.

A Wolf Well Kept

Akela’s positive and playful behavior speaks volumes about how lovingly Andrey takes care of him. He even provided a massive cage for Akela, giving him plenty of room to move around without feeling cramped. On top of all that, Akela’s fur is well-kept, indicating he’s living a life of luxury and has found his forever home.

How this unique relationship will continue, we don’t know, but we’re certainly eager to follow it for any further updates.
