Workers in a nearby industrial area of Southern California witnessed the heart-wrenching moment. It was beyond comprehension how anyone could abandon their dog in such a cruel and heartless manner.
He wasn’t just left behind; he was thrown from a moving car and left on the street. His owners didn’t even glance back as they sped away, leaving Cody in a state of shock and despair.
The workers acted swiftly, reaching out to Suzette Hall, a seasoned rescuer and the founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California.
“A little pocket pittie, tossed out of a moving car yesterday at 6 P.M.. Employees in the industrial area saw it happen. His sad eyes told his whole story. And broke our hearts in half,” Hall shared in a heartfelt Facebook post.
Cody couldn’t hide his sorrow. He curled up by the roadside, as if trying to erase the painful scene he had just endured. He teetered between heartbreak and a sliver of hope that his humans might return. Sadly, they never did.
Hall and her team sprang into action, determined to rescue Cody. But he was so frightened and traumatized that he initially refused to go with them. He had lost all trust in humans, but Hall knew that patience, gentle words, and some tasty treats were the key to reaching his shattered heart.
After some time coaxing him into a humane trap, Hall successfully captured Cody and set him on the path to a brand-new life.
Cody Finds Hope Again

Gaining the trust of a traumatized dog is never easy, but Hall and her incredible team managed to help Cody come out of his shell. They gave him a name, a place to call home, and most importantly, they gave him hope. For the first time since his abandonment, Cody felt safe in someone’s arms. He started to trust again, and slowly but surely, his broken heart began to heal.
Thanks to Hall’s friend, Genavie, Cody found a loving foster home and a fresh start. It was heartwarming to see him enjoy every affectionate pat on the head. He felt so cherished by Genavie that he didn’t want to leave her side, not even for a moment. Before long, his sad eyes turned into bright, glowing stars that reflected pure happiness!
“She has mended his broken heart and turned his sad eyes into glowing stars,” Hall shared in an update.
For now, Cody will continue to recover in his new foster home. He needs time to heal from the trauma of his abandonment, but he’s already much happier and couldn’t be more grateful for the loving home he’s found. When the time is right, there’s no doubt that Cody will bring immense joy to a lucky family. He truly is the best boy ever!
