In a world where unconditional love from a puppy enriches our lives, it’s disheartening to witness instances where not all dog owners reciprocate this affection. The sad reality is that some people can heartlessly mistreat these affectionate beings.
Meet Ladybird, a sweet puppy who faced the harshness of abandonment. She was discovered tied to a tree, cold and frightened, in a desolate spot in Kentucky. Despite her plight, Ladybird’s hopeful eyes remained fixed on the passing cars, silently pleading for someone to notice her.
Rescue on a Lonely Road

Fortune smiled on Ladybird when a compassionate driver noticed her while cruising down a Kentucky road. Disturbed by the sight, the driver immediately reached out to the Lewis County Animal Shelter. The rescue team was quick to respond, and they brought Ladybird to safety, a mere stone’s throw from the shelter.
According to Kim Desroches of Friends of Lewis County Animals, “She was just so stoic, sitting there by the tree, waiting for someone to notice her. We’re so thankful that the shelter found her and took her in.”
A New Beginning

At the shelter, Ladybird was visibly unsettled and unsure—a tiny, fragile puppy in a vast, intimidating world. Sensing that a bustling public shelter was no place for such a delicate soul, Desroches took it upon herself to find Ladybird a more nurturing environment.
Soon enough, Ladybird was welcomed into a foster home where love and warmth awaited her. Her foster mom enveloped her in cuddles and care, which helped melt away Ladybird’s fears. In this loving atmosphere, Ladybird blossomed into a relaxed and playful pup.
Ladybird’s journey didn’t stop there. She eventually found her way to the Licking County Humane Society in Ohio, where she was put up for adoption. On January 27th, 2024, an announcement on their Facebook page shared that Ladybird was pending adoption.

As we cross our fingers for her, we’re filled with hope that Ladybird has found her forever home where she will be boundlessly loved and never feel abandoned again. Her story isn’t just a tale of rescue; it’s a powerful reminder of the impact of kindness and the transformative power of love.
