Some dogs just have to wait a bit longer for their furever home, but when that moment finally arrives, the long days of hope and waiting fade away. This was the case for Major, a black-and-white pup who spent over a year at a shelter until his perfect hooman came along.

These two brothers quickly became the heart of the shelter, known for their quirky, friendly spirits and love for playtime.

To celebrate Major and Hilo’s one-year mark at NAHS, the team posted a heartfelt video showcasing the dogs’ adorable temperaments and unique qualities. “We can’t understand why they’ve been overlooked for so long,” the team wrote. “So, we put together this video to show you all the great things they have to offer.”
Overlooked Without Reason

The shelter staff were baffled as to why Major was consistently overlooked by potential adopters. He was well-mannered, easy to care for, and incredibly friendly. “Don’t tell the other dogs, but he’s the smartest one here,” said Winston, a volunteer. Another volunteer, Jane, added, “He’s such a lovebug, and we all want him to have his own family.” Pam, another caregiver, simply said, “Major is the sweetest boy.”

After 372 days at the shelter, Major’s special day finally arrived. Jose, a semi-trailer truck driver who had recently lost his furry companion, walked into NAHS looking to adopt. The staff knew exactly who to introduce him to: Major. The connection was immediate, and it was clear that Major had found his new dad.

The shelter staff organized an emotional farewell for Major. He said goodbye to his favorite volunteers before jumping into the truck with Jose. Seeing Major snuggled up to Jose through the truck window, at peace and happy, was a pawdorable sight.
Adventures on the Road
Major’s new life on the road with Jose is filled with endless adventures. “We just heard from Major’s new dad that Major is doing GREAT!” the NAHS team shared. “He can jump out of the truck by himself now and LOVES to snuggle with his new owner at night in the cabin. We are thrilled to hear that Major is enjoying his exciting life on the road.”
Now, Major is living life to the fullest, making every day a new adventure, and most importantly, he never stops smiling.
